The fair has the coolest "petting zoo" for kids. They have all sorts of animals: giraffes, zebras, ponies, pigs, goats, etc . . . This one ate up all the food from this little shovel.
They also have an interactive children's area: how to be a farmer. Gabriel was able to feed the hens, pick out an egg, milk a cow, plant a seed, pick out his vegetables, ride a tracker to feed the animals and sell his goods to the market. Then at the end, they give the children a free ice cream. All that hard work paid off.
As we were leaving, we saw this car. For those of you who do not know, this car looks just like Doc Hudson off of Cars. We had to take a picture with Gabriel standing next to Doc.
This was our first ever experience at the Texas State Fair. The weather was wonderful. As we entered the park, we saw Big Tex. He was a little intimidating at first because he actually talks. But we were able to stand far enough away at first to take a picture. Later on during the day, Gabriel actually wanted to go near him.
They had this really cool exhibit of all of these gigantic pumpkins. A man was carving faces into the pumpkins. We were able to see a finished pumpkin, and one that he was working on.
O.K. Since the fair has started, we have heard non-stop about the famous Fletcher's corny dog. The people around here go to the fair just for these corny dogs. First, I have never really heard anyone call it a "corny" dog. That was funny. Then, when we get to the fair, it is an experience eating it. Their are so many people surrounding the area trying to buy this corny dog. After you buy it, everyone gathers around the condiment machine squirting their corny dog with ketchup or mustard. Then, you basically stand around with everyone else eating their corny dogs. Justin liked them so much, he went back for seconds. Also on the menu for the day: Turkey Leg and fried chocolate truffles.
Gabriel experienced his first "fair" game. "Everyone's a winner." We like those kind of games. He went fishing and . . .
won this really awesome dolphin:)

Vercher's it is so fun to stumble upon your blog!!! It looks like you all are doing good! I am doing great still living in KS. I work at a church as a Director of Youth Ministry. It keeps me really busy:)
