On Saturday, Justin, I, and Gabriel met up with Reavis family at Pleasant Hill Children's Home in Fairfield. We had a fantastic time serving the children and home. The orphanage serves about fifty children ages birth to 18 years of age. For the children, this is their family they will grow up with. The children are placed there by their parents. They are not adoptable because the parents have not signed over their rights in hopes they will reunite with their children again. Most of the parents are in dire need of reshaping their lives. Once they prove they are able to take care of their own children, they are able to reunite. That is of course the best case scenario. Some of the children will never be able to go back to their home again-maybe because of their parents deaths and no living relatives to take care of them. In any case, the children go to the orphanage and are provided with the necessities they need. The children are given a wonderful foundation in the Lord, transportation to school and church, clothes, food, a home with children of their own age and gender, and many wonderful and loving friends and home parents. It is a fantastic place for these children. I would encourage everyone to give back a little this holiday season. We are so blessed with all that we have. Life is more than acquiring material possessions and success-however you define it. Life is about helping those in need, giving back.
