Eagle Mountain Park

Before we headed out on our adventure!

 Here's our elephant:)
The adventure hike:

We headed out on Wednesday morning for the zoo.  Little did we know that all of the Fort Worth area Spring Breakers were going to the same place.  We also did not know that this was half price Wednesday.  That makes for a bad combination.  We were in a seriously long line waiting to get into the zoo in traffic when we noticed that every car had kids in it and were headed to the same destination.  I think we were in denial, but we kept going forward.  We made it to the entrance of the zoo and noticed the massive amounts of people flooding into the zoo.  I have never seemed so many people in one area in my life.  Justin compared it to Moses leading his people out of Egypt-they just kept coming.  It was crazy!  But the kids were wanting to see animals: Brooklyn really wanted to see the elephants.  So, we went into the parking lot and found a spot.  Then, we saw the line for tickets.  An hour wait just to get tickets!  We showed the kids the craziness and convinced them that we could come up with a better way to spend our day.  And that's when we remembered Eagle Mountain Park.  It was a beautiful park with hiking trails and just a handful of people there=perfect.  We spent a couple of hours hiking and went about three miles total.  Brooklyn unfortunately hadn't seen any elephants yet, so we told her to look real close for an elephant.  She found one:) (picture above) She carried her little elephant car the whole way.  And she said a few funny comments towards the end of our journey: "What's wrong with my legs Mommy?"  Her legs were sore from all that hiking.  My response, "That's called exercise, sweetie!"  It was a great day and we can't wait to go back.
